SmartQuote, Items and Inventory + Locations

Velosity is the Quoting + Scheduling solution for the make-to-order business. Velosity offers two paths for quoting: 1) Smart Quote, 2) Quote Builder. Smart Quote provides a "car like" ordering experience - dramatically transforming your sales process (faster response to RFQ, reduced SG&A expense). SmartQuote in Velosity allows users to determine a price and delivery date in sixty seconds or less. This is possible because of the integrated scheduling engine built into Velosity. When enabled, inventory of Items added to the Bill of Material by SmartQuote automatically are considered in the calculation of the Delivery date. This is possible in two parts: 1) Item catalog, 2) Inventory.

Item Catalog

The Item Catalog is used Velosity in two ways. First, Smart Quote uses the Item Catalog is present to the user the options available for a particular Attribute. Secondly, Smart Quote uses the Item Catalog to to automatically create the Bill of Material. The Item Catalog should represent the complete set of what a Company wants to offer for a particular product. The Item catalog can be maintained within Velosity, or managed externally (Excel, ERP) and synchronized via import or ERP integration.

Inventory

The optional Inventory feature offers two benefits for Velosity users. First, Smart Quote automatically adjusts the delivery date based on the material availablity. The delivery date is adjusted to the longest lead of any material where demand exceeds availability. A "Purchasing Action List" advises what material needs to be ordered to satisfy the lead times committed to customers.

The location of inventory can also be managed within Velosity - supporting both indoor (warehouse) and outdoors. For outdoor locations, geo coordinates can be specified - Velosity shows on a map where the inventory is located. Locations can be imported into Velosity during the onboarding, and managed from Velosity after that.
Inventory can be: 1) moved from one location to another, 2) received from outside the facility. Inventory is consumed when production order status changes to WIP.
