Line Item Editor

The new Line Item Editor allows companies using Velosity to quickly add a Router and Bill of Materials to a Sales Quote or Sales Order. This new feature is an alternative to Smart Quote and with a much lower onboarding effort (and expense), making Velosity affordable for small businesses.

Fast and accurate Router and BOM while Quoting are essential for achieving target profitability and on time delivery through production scheduling. With the addition of Material Planning (coming soon), Velosity offers a feature set that was previously only available in ERP systems that this segment of industry is unable to afford.

Let's take a look at how the Line Item Editor works.

Select a DRAFT Sales Quote to Modify

First we select a DRAFT quote or create a new Quote. From the Detail view, above the Line Items table, click Add to begin creating the Line Item.

Create the Line Item - Add Tasks and Materials

From the Line Item Editor view, we can add each Task one-by-one. This is accomplished by selecting the Task from a list, entering the description and the process time in Minutes or Hours (time units selectable from the top of the view). Velosity calculates the cost and price using the Task specific hourly rate and markup in the Company Setup (Tasks).

The materials are added to the Line Item in similar way. Here however, there are two options: 1) Free entry, 2) selecting from a list. The values in the list are from the Items section.

When combined with just plan it visual scheduling software and Quickbooks (integration coming soon), small companies are able to fully run their business with less reliance on spreadsheets.

Note: Velosity clients always have the option to migrate to SmartQuote (guided product definition). SmartQuote allows even faster quote generation than the Line Item Editor. However, it does require an investment to define each Product (Attributes, Pages, Rules, Items) to make it work. Contact us to learn more!
